Securing Your Seat in the Fall 2025 Class
OPTION 1: Submit a Commitment Form
First-year students admitted through the binding Early Decision or Presidential Merit Scholarship programs may choose to submit this binding commitment form (requires no payment). The commitment form is due by 5:00pm ET on March 15.
First-year students admitted through the Regular Decision process may choose to reserve their seat by submitting this binding commitment form (requires no payment). The commitment form would require you to commit to GW Law and withdraw all other law school applications by 5:00pm ET on April 15. Once you return the signed commitment form, it is binding and any future date listed on the agreement is no longer pertinent since the agreement would now be complete.
Please carefully read, sign, and submit the completed commitment form via email to [email protected] by the due date.
OPTION 2: Pay a Seat Deposit(s)
First-year students admitted through the binding Early Decision or Presidential Merit Scholarship programs may choose to submit one non-refundable seat deposit in the amount of $1,500 by 5:00pm ET on March 15, 2025.
First-year students admitted through the Regular Decision process may choose to reserve their seat by submitting a non-refundable, non-binding seat deposit in the total amount of $2,250. (Please note: Each deposit must be submitted by 5:00pm ET on the due date. A late deposit may result in forfeiture of a seat in the Fall 2025 incoming class.).

Submission of your seat deposit(s) or commitment form honors the following Acknowledgement:
"I understand that my acceptance to The George Washington University Law School is issued with the recognition that any course work I have in progress will be completed satisfactorily, with no significant changes in my grades, and that I remain in good academic standing. In addition, I understand that my deposit(s) is non-refundable. In the event that I withdraw, my deposit(s) will be forfeited, and I may be subject to fees as outlined under the withdrawal section of this portal."
Instructions for Submitting Seat Deposits Online
Seat deposit payments must be made online via the GWeb Information System. GWeb is the University system that you will use throughout your time as a GW student to register for courses, view your grades, and access your student account. - After creating your applicant account, go to GWeb, and select “Log in to GWeb.”

Please specify work, educational, and/or travel objectives and relevant dates.

Please note that the University's tuition fee policy may be found on the Fees and Financial Aid page (Withdrawals and Refunds) of The George Washington University Law School Bulletin:
Tuition Fee Policy for the First Year Law Program (not including non-refundable deposits):
Withdrawal Period | Refund Percentage |

Withdrawal prior to the first day of the student’s scheduled orientation (by 11:50pm the day before) | 90% |
Withdrawal from the first day of the student’s scheduled orientation through the first week of the first year law student classes of the semester (by 11:59pm Sunday) | 75% |

Merit scholarships are automatically revoked in full with payment required starting from the semester from which the recipient withdraws, takes a leave of absence, or transfers between the full and part-time programs. After all tuition and federal aid adjustments, the full revocation of the merit scholarship will require repayment from the student and may result in a balance due from the student to the University. It is imperative that students with a merit scholarship discuss the financial impact of withdrawing prior to the end of the semester with a representative of the Law School Financial Aid Office.
