How to Apply for Financial Aid
Please submit Financial Aid forms by June 30, 2024.
Student Type and Loan Eligibility
- U.S. citizens/permanent residents may apply for GW Law need-based grants and federal loans.
- Transfer students and students receiving GW employee tuition benefits are ineligible to receive law need-based grants, but may apply for federal loans.
- International students are ineligible for need-based grants and federal loans, but may apply for private education loans.
Note: Joint JD/other GW graduate school degree students may apply for federal loans and GW Law need-based grants, but may not receive a grant for any semester in which they are enrolled exclusively in their other graduate program’s courses.
Steps for Federal Loans and GW Law Need-Based Grants
1. FAFSA (Required to apply for Federal Loans and GW Law Need-Based Grants)
Complete the 2024-2025 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Enter the GW Law school code E00196 in order for GW Law to receive your FAFSA data.
The US Department of Education receives and processes your FAFSA application data and sends you a Student Aid Report (SAR), providing you and GW Law with an analysis of your eligibility for Federal Student Loans. The SAR alone does not determine your need for a GW Law need-based grant.
Complete the FAFSA Application
2. GW Law Financial Aid Request Form (Required to apply for Federal Loans and GW Law Need-Based Grants)
