Admissions

 

Sophia Sim
 

Sophia Sim

Associate Dean for Admissions and Financial Aid
Dean Sim has been active in the American Association of Law Schools (AALS) and the governance of the Law School Admission Council (LSAC). She currently serves as Chair-Elect on the AALS Section on Prelaw Education and Admission to Law School, which focuses on bettering legal education and increasing diversity in the legal profession. For LSAC, her most recent services was with the LSAC Assessments Committee during the pandemic, which oversaw test development and psychometric activities for the Digital LSAT and LSAT Flex. Dean Sim had previously served on the Board of Trustees as well as the four standing committees—Audit, Finance and Legal, Services and Programs, and Test, Development, and Research.  During her time on the Services and Programs committee, she was co-chair of the global admissions workgroup. Aside from presenting at various LSAC conferences and forums, she was the keynote speaker for the American Association of Law Schools (AALS) Section on Prelegal Education and Admission to Law School and has served as a panelist for the Northeast Association of Pre-Law Advisors (NAPLA), the Midwest Association of Pre-Law Advisors (MAPLA), and the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association’s (NAPABA) Pre-Law Conference. She is currently Co-Chair of the Featured Speakers Committee for the quadrennial 2016 Prelaw Advisors National Council (PLANC) Conference.

Dean Sim began her career in academic administration as the director of residency classification at the University of Maryland, College Park. While there, she served as advisor to the Judicial Honor Council. Prior to her position at GW Law, Dean Sim worked at Georgetown University Law Center for fourteen years. Since 2000, she was director of admissions and oversaw the operations of the Office of Admissions. During her time there, Dean Sim was appointed to a variety of university and law school committees, including data warehousing, diversity task force, future law professors, information technology, joint-degree programs, technology users, and web redesign.

Matthew Dillard
 

Matthew D. Dillard

Director of Admissions
Matthew has been the Director of Admissions at GW Law since 2019. He loves the job, which combines his interests in counseling students individually and assembling classes that reflect a diversity of experiences, backgrounds, and interests. Prior to his current role, Matthew advised students in various capacities in the law school's Admissions and Dean of Students offices for over a decade. He serves on the LSAC Misconduct & Irregularities Subcommittee and was the law school representative on the Board of the Northeastern Association of Pre-Law Advisors. A first-generation student, Matthew graduated from Vassar College and GW Law and is a member of the GW Lambda Law Alumni Association. His favorite spots in DC include The Phillips Collection art museum and Hillwood Museum and Gardens.
Megan Spratt
 

Megan Spratt

Associate Director of Admissions

Megan graduated from GW Law in 2008 and joined the Admissions team in 2019. Her favorite part of the work is having the privilege of meeting so many inspiring students and helping them navigate the admissions process.  Prior to working in admissions, Megan practiced nonprofit law for ten years, focusing primarily on advising nonprofit organizations, trade associations, and professional societies on a range of legal matters, from corporate formation, corporate governance, contracts to tax exemption issues. In her free time, Megan enjoys spending time with her husband and two rowdy kids, reading suspense novels, playing the piano, and dabbling in arts and crafts projects.

Ketty Nakitto
 

Ketty S. Nakitto

Manager, Admissions and Financial Aid

Ketty joined the Admissions team in February 2015 and received her masters in Higher Education Administration with a concentration in Student Affairs in May 2017 from GW. Ketty’s interest in the higher education field was sparked during her time in undergrad, where she held a work-study job in the on-campus housing department and became a resource for her fellow students. In addition to managing the daily operations of the office, Ketty enjoys meeting with students on campus and across the US at various law fairs. In her free time, she enjoys reading novels (adding to her ever-growing home library collection), trying out new food recipes, and exploring new brunch spots around the DC area.

Connie Zegarra
 

Connie Zegarra

Admissions Coordinator

Connie joined the Admissions team in 2021 and is currently a Master’s student in the Latin American and Hemispheric Studies program at GW’s Elliott School of International Affairs. She enjoys meeting prospective students and answering any questions that they may have about the admissions process, different program offerings, and the general community atmosphere of GW Law. Prior to working in Admissions, Connie worked at GW’s Department of Facilities, Planning, Construction, and Management as a Lead Summer Assistant. In her free time, she enjoys volunteering with Loudoun Mentors, trying new restaurants with friends, and going on long walks around the city while listening to some of her favorite artists, such as Taylor Swift or Sara Bareilles.

Kamryn Batts
 

Kamryn Batts

Admissions Assistant

Kamryn joined the Admissions team in September 2023. She received her Bachelor in Communications from James Madison University, where she worked as an Orientation Guide and loved welcoming new students. Kamryn enjoys meeting prospective students and answering any questions they may have about the admissions process. In her free time, she likes trying new restaurants, baking, and reading.

Jordyn Harris
 

Jordyn Harris

Digital Content Specialist

Jordyn joined the Admissions team in September 2023 and is a 2023 graduate of Virginia Tech. She enjoys bringing GW Law student experiences closer to prospective students through social media resources. Before joining the team, Jordyn worked in digital media, including photography and social media, with collegiate and professional sports teams. In her free time, she loves thrifting, exploring new coffee shops, and spending time with her friends.

Chris Pollard

Director of Financial Aid
Chris joined the GW Law Admissions and Financial Aid Office in September 2016 as the assistant director of financial aid and was promoted to director in April 2022. Helping students gain access to higher education has been his passion since he began working in financial aid as a Student Customer Service Representative at The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in the spring of 2006. For the 2023-2024 academic year, Chris will serve on GW’s University Integrity and Conduct Council (UICC). Chris has previously served as a Representative-At-Large Board Member for the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (2022-2023), Federal Relations Committee Chair (2019-20) for the DE-DC-MD Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, NASFAA Graduate and Professional Caucus Chair (2019-2021), and has served on several committees and task forces in his regional and state associations. Chris also represents the Graduate School of Education and Human Development in the GW Student Association (SA) as a senator; he is currently a doctoral student in the Higher Education Administration (EdD) program at GW.
Courtney Boaz
 

Courtney Boaz

Assistant Director of Financial Aid

Courtney joined the Law Financial Aid team in the summer of 2022, and is currently a master's student at GW, in the Higher Education Administration program. Prior to joining the Law team, Courtney worked with the main GW Financial Aid team, as well as at her alma mater back in Alabama. Courtney started working in higher education as an undergraduate work study in the admissions, financial aid, and records offices and fell in love, so she just stuck with it! She loves working with students to help them find ways of paying to attend their dream school. In her free time, Courtney spends most of it adventuring with her dog, volunteering with the Junior League of Washington, and taking advantage of all the great free things that DC has to offer.

Senior Financial Aid Counselor

Nate joined the GW Law Admissions and Financial Aid Office in July of 2022. Nate’s interest in student finance was sparked during his undergraduate years when he began working in a student account’s office and has only grown since. Over years of working in the financial aid field Nate has developed a passion to reduce student debt and ensure that students are educated and empowered to have control of their finances. In his free time, Nate can be found exploring DC with his dog or trying new cooking techniques at home.

Financial Aid Assistant

Darshani joined GW Law in August 1999. Darshani assists current and prospective law students with their financial aid inquiries in addition to processing financial aid. She enjoys spending time with her daughter and two cats.
