Student Ambassador Spotlights
Meghan Bonnist
President of Admitted Student Outreach
Meghan Bonnist is a 3L from the suburbs of NY. She graduated from the University of Chicago with a BS in Environmental Science. In addition to her work with the Student Ambassadors, she is a former student-attorney at the Health Equity Policy and Advocacy Clinic and current student-attorney at the Vaccine Injury Litigation Clinic at GW Law. Meghan is also a research assistant at the law school, and a member of the Student Intellectual Property Law Association, the Environmental and Energy Law Association, and GW Defenders. She spent her 1L summer in-house at an aerospace defense firm in DC and her 2L summer working as an intellectual property intern for the TSA. In her free time, she enjoys exploring DC, trying new coffee shops, cooking, and spending time with her dog, Willow.
Brennan Eppinger
President of Tours and Events
Brennan is a 3L from New Jersey. He graduated from the College of New Jersey with a BA in Political Science. At GW Law, Brennan is concentrating in Government Procurement. He is a returning Dean's Fellow for the Brandeis Inn, and is the Senior Notes Editor for the Public Contract Law Journal. He is also a member of the Hispanic Bar Association of DC. During his 2L summer, he worked at the GSA Office of Inspector General, and as a student-attorney at the GW Law Immigration Clinic in his 1L summer. Outside of school, Brennan enjoys spending time with his fiancee and two dogs.
Alana Portnoy
Vice President of Tours and Events
Alana is a 2L from Boca Raton, FL. She graduated from Florida State University with a BS in Criminology and Political Science. At GW, Alana is a Writing Fellow, the Deputy Vice President of First Year Students, and a member of the George Washington International Law Review. She spent her 1L summer working as an honors legal intern in the Mergers II Division at the Federal Trade Commission. In her free time, Alana enjoys watching the sunset on her roof, taking walks throughout DC, and following everything & anything related to college football – Go Noles!
Kaci Waguespack
Vice President of Tours and Events
Kaci is a 2L from Destrehan, LA. She attended Northwestern State University of Louisiana and graduated with a BA in Liberal Arts with a concentration in Humanities in Social Thought and a BS in Psychology. She is interested in regulatory law, specifically government contracts and compliance. At GW Law, she is involved in the Student Bar Association, First Generation Professionals, and the Asian Pacific American Law Student Association. She is also a member of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Board and the Public Contract Law Journal. In her free time, Kaci loves to take drives to the suburbs, try new restaurants, and binge-watch her latest TV show obsession. She's super excited to meet prospective and admitted students and show them all the things she loves about GW Law.
Patrick Schaller
Vice President of Admitted Student Outreach
Patrick is a 3L from Louisville, Kentucky. He attended Western Kentucky University and graduated in 2022 with a BA in International Affairs and History. Patrick is a member of the Federal Circuit Bar Journal. At GW, he serves as the co-president of LAMBDA Law. He spent his 1L summer working at the Office of Special Counsel in their Disclosure Unit. In fall 2023, he returned to the Office of Special Counsel. In his free time, Patrick enjoys reading classic literature, going out to eat, and taking walks through the city.
Matthew Scharfenberger
Vice President of Admitted Student Outreach
Matthew is a 3L from Long Island, NY. He graduated from Binghamton University in 2022 with a BA in Philosophy, Politics, and Law. Matthew worked as a law clerk at the United States Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs under Senator and Chairman Gary Peters from May 2023 until December 2023. He has also previously worked under the Honorable Judge Tanya Jones Bosier at the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, and most recently spent his summer at Amazon working on its Public Policy team. Matthew is Student Editor-in-Chief of the American Intellectual Property Law Association Quarterly Journal, and is also involved in Lambda, Student Ambassadors, and the Student Intellectual Property Law Association. Outside of the classroom, Matthew loves lifting, photography, playing Mancala, and trying new restaurants.
